Sam Wake
Undergraduate Summer Intern
Sam Wake is a summer research intern at the Agroecology Lab. Sam is an undergrad at the University of Maryland, where they are studying Horticulture, with a focus on urban and sustainable agriculture. In the AgroEcoLab they helped process soil and plant matter collected from farm field to be analyzed for carbon content. Sam also works as a vendor at FRESHFARM-run farmers markets, which allows them to communicate with the local urban farmers of DC and learn more about the agriculture scene in the DC metro region. It is Sam’s aim to continue to work with the local farmers and other organizations to help bring knowledge of growing one’s own food to the residents of DC, in turn promoting food security.
