Katie Quinn

Undergraduate intern (Fall 2021)

Katie is a sophomore Agricultural Science and Tech major concentrating in Agronomy and Theatre at the University of Maryland - College Park. She’s a member of the Creative and Performing Arts Scholars program and is from Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Growing up, she was surrounded by nature, frequently going out on hiking and kayaking trips with her family around the Patuxent River. Here, she learned firsthand of the effects of climate change on local areas and ecosystems. Since then, she has interned with the Campus Food Gardens and worked at Terp Farm, gaining experience and knowledge into how local food systems are being impacted by climate change. Interning at the Agroecology Lab has given her the opportunity to explore these ideas through real world applications in mitigation and adaptation farming methods for farmers dealing with saltwater intrusion in their fields.
