Meera Kay

PhD Candidate

Meera is a PhD candidate in the Agroecology Lab at the University of Maryland. Her research investigates how urban farms contribute to nutrition security and examines consumer food behaviors through her work with the Menus of Change Research Collaborative.

Passionate about growing food and helping others embrace farm-to-table eating, she is the founder and director of a nonprofit educational farm, where she mentors high school students in farm animal care and sustainable agriculture practices. Prior to pursuing doctoral studies, she spent many years working in elementary education, leading science enrichment programs and school garden initiatives designed to foster environmental literacy and experiential learning. Her work integrates research, education, and community-based approaches to advancing healthy, sustainable food systems.
