Aidan Fonseca

Undergraduate Intern (Summer-Fall 2022)

Aidan is an Environmental Science and Technology (ENST) major with a concentration in ecosystem health and a minor in Sustainability Studies at The University of Maryland, College Park. Born in Rockville, Maryland, Aidan developed his interest for environmental studies during family trips to natural areas around Maryland and Virginia. He is a graduate of the Environment, Technology & Economy College Park Scholars Program as well as a former SustainableUMD Green Terp Ambassador. Aidan’s lab experience began in the UMD Sustainable Food Systems Lab, in the Department of ENST, where he is now lab manager of the aquaponics-centered operation. He enhances his passion and experiences through Dr. Tully’s Mapping Salty Soils Project, studying salinity levels in agricultural lands to understand the effects and extent of saltwater intrusion on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
