Undergraduate intern (Spring 2022)

Yazan Aboushi is a Palestinian-American photographer and storyteller currently residing in Washington DC. Yazan began his career in photography when he realized that he could use photography to tell the story of his people and bridge the gap between his East and West identities. From the rolling hills of Palestine to the golden shores of the Chesapeake Bay, Yazan uses storytelling to foster genuine relationships between people and their environments.

He is especially interested in the changing landscapes of the Chesapeake Bay, climate change, and environmental education. Having worked for the National Audubon Society, Maryland Sea Grant, and the National Parks Service, Yazan is eager to familiarize himself with the field and contribute to making environmental science more accessible and equitable.

In his free time he enjoys cooking, spending time with his two cats, and birding. Follow him on instagram @yazanphoto and check out his website: yazanaboushi.com
